If you loved Pixar's story of the little
fish with a big heart – and let's face it who didn't?- then get your water
wings on because Pixar have just announced their commitment to Finding Dory, arriving
in autumn 2015…
Finding Dory, to be released in 2015, will see original Finding Nemo director Andrew Stanton back at the helm for this animated romp through the high seas. The sequel will also see the return of star Ellen DeGeneres as Dory. Albert Brookes, the original voice of Nemo's father Marlin, has also signed on to the project. Other characters set to make a re-appearance are the 'Tank Gang' who lived in a fish tank in dentist Philip Sherman's office in Finding Nemo. There are also sure to be a whole new cast of lovable aquatic critters that kids of all ages will enjoy watching on the big screen.
The story is rumoured to take place a year
after the original and focuses on answering the question of why Dory was all
alone in the ocean when she met Marlin. Finding Dory will chart her journey
towards being reunited with her loved ones and, in true Disney-Pixar style,
there are sure to be some heart-warming life lessons for the little fish and
audiences along the way. The setting will be partly along the California
coastline and, if Finding Nemo is anything to go by, will take audiences through
a diverse range of stunning underwater vistas and environments.
If you can't wait until 2015 and you're
hankering after a fix of Nemo style underwater adrenaline, then a
trip to Disney Paris could be on the cards. The amusement park
includes a ride called Crush's Coaster
based on the green sea turtle from the movie. The spinning roller-coaster
simulates the experience of Nemo as he rides the East Australian Current and
other scenes including exploring the dark deeps of the ocean bed, navigating
shoals of jellyfish and evading the sharks.
The coaster is one of the most popular
rides in the park and it's worth getting there early to avoid long queues. The
ride has some great technology to help park visitors immerse themselves in
their favourite film. For those who want even more Nemo in their lives, a quick
trip over to Disneyland for the Finding
Nemo Submarine Voyage ride
or The Seas with
Nemo & Friends at the Walt Disney World resort should do the
job. Visitors to the Seas ride get aboard 'clamobiles' and set off on an
adventure to look for Nemo who is lost again. All the main characters from the
film appear in the ride and seem to swim alongside real fish, thanks to the use
of special effects glass.
Hopefully the sequel, Finding Dory, will be
received with as much applause as Finding Nemo and will inspire even more great
attractions for Disney-Pixar fans to enjoy. Ellen DeGeneres is certainly
excited about the focus being on her character, Dory: "I have waited for
this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time, I’m not mad it took
this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating 'Toy Story 16.' But
the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything
I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and
the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory."
